Would you believe that most children and adults in Grenada cannot swim? And almost anyone can reach a beach or river in 20 minutes!
“Get Grenada Swimming” is an initiative to teach 2,000 children and adults to swim each year by offering free lessons throughout the island. We teach the swim lessons every Saturday from 9 am – 11 am and we would love to have your help. We also host (2) National Learn to Swim Weeks each year where swimmers are offered lessons five days in a row.
You do not have to be a great swimmer to be a Get Grenada Swimming Volunteer. If you are comfortable in the water, it will only take 30 minutes for us to train you on how to work with the children (and adults!).
You will teach others how to float, blow bubbles underwater, kick with a noodle, and other simple things like that.
This DropBox Link will give you some basic training before you get here.
Videos 3-5 are the most important. (You do not have to be a Dropbox member to watch.)
(Sometimes complete families volunteer with parents, grandparents, and teens teaching at our sites!)
