This postcard worthy beach in the north of the island is a great spot for swimming, socializing with locals or indulging in some local cuisine. The beach with its speckled coral sand offers a 30-foot-wide pool protected from the strong Atlantic Sea currents by a rock shelf that parallels the north side of the shoreline. Swimming is prohibited behind the protective reef due to the strong currents. This full-service beach, complete with good parking, an information centre, bathroom facilities, specialty shops, restaurants, bars and picnic tables is well worth the journey from St.George’s. On a Sunday afternoon it is common to see local families enjoying the beach while cooking over camp style fires and if you’re lucky, you may just catch a game of dominoes. Additionally, Bathway Beach is watched by lifeguards.
